My First Blog

I'm not a big blog reader, but I have read my share. I thought I might try this and see how easy (or not) it is to be entertaining. I'm sure it will take much more work than I have anticipated, but Bean has inspired me to try to write my own.

It's Tuesday today. Only Tuesday, as I like to think of it. That's probably because this is my third week straight working without a day off.

I play hockey a lot, and I try to get out once a week in the morning to play. Unfortunately, this involves my having to wake up at 4:45 am so I can get dressed for the rink, feed the dog, take the dog out, then drive 30 miles across town to the rink where I practice. It is, however, conveniently located within 5 minutes of where I work, which means I get to miss traffic. But when the alarm went off this morning, there was no way in hell I was going to get out of bed. I'll have to try to go tomorrow. This whole tired and burnt out thing really makes getting up in the morning diffucult, especially at the butt crack of dawn, as my friend, Madeline, would say.

I feel that, having been inspired by Bean, I should have some useless facts to pass on, or maybe a song of the day. I thought that perhaps, since I'm still such a fan of 80s music that I grew up with, that I would pass along a song I remember and the memories that it brings up when I hear it. So, today's song is "Change" by John Waite.

I don't remember which John Waite album the song "Change" is on, but I distinctly remember it from the Vision Quest movie soundtrack. (In fact, that soundtrack has a lot of decent music, including the rare but enjoyable "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider). I love that John Waite song, though. Think about 1986, a rock cover band made up of a bunch of 14 year olds, trying to cover that song - except the drummer and guitarist can't get that back beat right. Yep - that was us. "Seven to Midnight" - whoo-hoo!
