Yesterday I played my last hockey game of the year with my Pasadena team at our local rink. I believe there are 8 teams at the rink, and only one division, so there is a vast array of skills in the league. Some of the teams are ridiculously stacked, and some are very low level (such as the one I play on). We've only won 2 games this season, and we generally experience a pretty good ass kicking at our expense. Last night we had the pleasure of playing the OTHER worst team at the rink, and actually won. I think the score was 10-4. A nice way to end the year.

I also went to a Christmas party last night for one of the vendors I work with. It was down in Hollywood, which would usually keep me away, except that I knew this would be one of the only parties I'd get to go to this year, and there would be a lot of people I wanted to see. So I moseyed on down to Hollywood (that's right, I said "moseyed" again). It was a nice party at a quiet restaurant that they had closed down for the occasion with a nice live jazz band.

The song for the day is "Slow and Easy" off Whitesnake's 1984 album Slide It In. Let me start by saying I'm in no way a Whitesnake fan, but this song came up on my list and so I thought I'd mention it. I don't think it was this video that had Tawny Kitaen spread eagle on the top of a Jaguar, but it had something similarly obscene. I remember distinctly sitting in the living room one afternoon watching MTV when this video came on. In the middle of the video, wherein some slutty woman was writhing around on the floor, my grandmother walked in, and I felt like I had been caught with porn.

Very funny story regarding the video. Had the same experience with my mom walking into the living room, but I was actually watching a porn when that happened.

AH yes, the old days before Tawny had an extensive rap sheet . . . my family has an evolutionary flaw - tragically weak ankles that prevent us from venturing on ice wearing ice skates - your league sounds like a lot of fun

Have you checked out the Derby Dolls? They have completely revived and reinvented roller derby in Los Angeles. It might be right up your alley, after you recup from surgery of course.
