I had a crazy hockey game last night. It was the last game of our regular season. We had already clinched the playoffs, but winning or losing last night's game would determine our position in the rankings and who we would play first in the post season. The team we played last night wouldn't make the playoffs whether they won or lost. We were tied at 0, then scored a goal in the second. Unfortunately, at the end of the 2nd period, there was a bit of a melee (that was actually instigated by the other team), and somehow, three of our best players ended up with game misconducts and ejections. Shorthanded, we scored 2 more goals in the 3rd, leaving us at 3-0 with 10 minutes left in the game. Their first goal came off one of our own players sticks, then they scored two more quick ones. Suddenly, a sure win turned into a 3-3 tie. We went into OT, and still ended the game tied. At least with the overtime tie, we got a point and ended up finishing 2nd in our division, meaning we wouldn't have to play the strongest team first. Now, we have to find out how those penalties will affect those players for the post season. One thing you can consistently say about beer league hockey is that the reffing is completely inconsistent.
Wally is at work today and his incisions are looking good. Most of the fluid seems to be gone. He has an appt. at the vet's this afternoon. Hopefully, he will soon be cleared for fetch. He's never gone this long in his entire life without playing, and he is absolutely miserable. I'm hoping to make it up to him with a visit to the dog park and a long hike along a nice stream.
The song for the day is "Rock This Town" by the Stray Cats off their 1981 self titled debut album. Talk about early MTV - these guys were interesting to watch. Tatted up rockers with 50s hair causing a rockabilly revival. I was never much into the Stray Cats, but I've always wanted to see Brian Setzer live. I hear he and his orchestra put on quite a show.

3 of your players received game misconducts? What, are you a member of the Broad Street Bullies? Sounds like a fun/interesting league, and good luck in the play offs!
Hope Wally gets an all clear at the doctor's today, and I agree with you about Brian Setzer
Three game misconducts and ejections? Sounds like a doozy of a game! Congrats on the win.
